Aug 31 Update (Upper Skagit Complex Wildfire)

General Announcements: State Route 20 opened on Sunday, August 30th. Temporary, intermittent closures may be required for helicopter and heavy equipment work on power lines and towers. Significant precipitation over the past 48 hours, and predictions for continued rain through Friday, have reduced fire activity for the entire complex. Smoldering in dense fuels, those not exposed directly to the rain, can be expected for several weeks. Future challenges will mainly be weather related as heavy rain could bring debris flows onto the highway and limit fire access points. Great Basin Team 4, Incident Commander Chris Wilcox, will transfer management back to the local organization on Tuesday September 1st at 4 pm.
